Our purpose is to promote, foster, and advance in every lawful manner, the common interests and goals of the members of the Colonie Emergency Medical Services Department.

This year's GHI Workforce Challenge will be held on May 15th. Again this year, Colonie EMS is planning on putting together a Town Public Safety team. Just as we did last year, CEMSBA will pay the registration fee for any member that runs in the race.
Contact Jack Bevilacqua for registration and race information.
Good luck to everyone who participates !!!

Colonie EMS in the News

CEMS was recently featured in the Times Union for our efforts to educate the public in CPR. At a recent Town Board Meeting, Asst. Chief Bevilacqua outlined a new plan for training lay citizens in CPR. The program will involve a 30 minute training class held at EMS and Fire facilities combined with a $30 take home kit for learning CPR. The kit includes an inflatable CPR dummy and instructional DVD. The program does not grant certification but is meant to teach the public basic CPR to maintain oxygen perfusion until EMS arrives. Currently, there is about 10% bystander CPR (for cardiac arrests) in the town. The plan for the town is to increase that number to 50% by 2008. For more information, visit American Heart Association and Town of Colonie.
